Error NET Framework 4. Have not uninstalled Office for fear of being high and dry should installation of fail may be at home but still have lots of work to do. I ran into this once before and ended up using my Windows 7 installation disk to install Win7 as refresh. Only took about hours and hope NOT to have to do that again.

Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn't help. My effort to do a nondestructive reinstall of Win7 resulted in some minor corrupted files resolved by using Acronis backup restore. I'm out of town until the weekend, and will check out the "long shots" and will also be collecting to some log files. Alas, no such luck.

Same error: I have run sfc several times no errors detected. As far as I can tell all of my Win7 SP1 updates have installed, although I still think it has something to do. Since I'm running Office at work, would love to have the program on my home machine as well.

Some error as above. In Sept I tried to safe reinstall of Win7 and my system got "hosed. Note in theory Microsoft provides technical support at no cost for problems that involve the installation of Microsoft Office system. Thanks so much. Really appreciate it. No, Office and installations should be separate. At least to the point that it wouldn't matter what level of patching had been done on to the installation of Apparently I stand corrected. First thing to try is to remove the previous version of Office prior to installing new version.

You can remove the previous version of Office automatically using the appropriate fix it from KB After removing the previous version of Office, then attempt to install the newer version of Office. At worst, you could simple restore to get back relatively "quickly" Installing Net Framework 1. I always turn on any validation I can find. It is always better to find out as early as possible when there are identifiable errors The trail was a good try, but the problem is more fundamental.

Paying for Win7 Pro is a waste of money. Since safe re-install of current Win7 didn't help, a full "fresh" install of your current Win7 would be as effective at eliminating your problem as upgrading to Pro. Actually, probably more effective than doing an "upgrade" to Pro rather than doing a fresh install of pro. There is absolutely no reason to have to wait for a new computer to be able to install If the machine can run it certainly can run The only thing you have to do is be willing to invest more time in beating windows into submission, tracking down the cause of the problem and fixing it.

Try googling for the error code as well as using the search code at the top of this page. There are lots of possible fixes for the problem out there. The trick is finding the right one. I don't think there really is anything relevant in this tip but
